George Mitchell, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader and Nobel Peace Prize nominee
Leadership: Keeping the Goal in Mind
In an illustrious 14-year U. S. Senate career, Senator Mitchell played leading roles in passing the Americans with Disabilities Act, creating the World Trade Organization, enacting nursing home standards and evaluating medical care outcomes. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in bringing about the historic peace accord in Northern Ireland. Last year he chaired the investigation and delivered the report on performance-enhancing drugs in baseball. For six consecutive years, Mitchell was voted "the most respected member" of the Senate. |

Dave Werner, Political Satirist and Musical Comedian
The Lighter Side of Washington
Dave Werner took his Yale law degree to Washington, D.C. to launch his career and quickly went on to win the “Funniest Lawyer in Washington” contest at a local comedy club. After becoming a Senate staffer, he joined the highly regarded musical satire troupe, the Capitol Steps. Since 1995, he has taken his solo act around the country, entertaining as a self-described “C-SPAN Music Man” with equal parts inside-the-beltway political commentary and Iowa-bred humor.
