Dr. Atul Gawande is a nationally recognized surgeon and author with
a unique perspective on modern medical practice. His bestselling book, Complications: A Surgeon's Notes on an Imperfect Science, was a finalist for the 2007 National Book Award and is published in more than 100 countries. He is a staff writer for New Yorker magazine and his third book, The Checklist Manifesto: How to Get Things Right, has just been published. He is currently on the staff of the Brigham and Women's Hospital and a professor at Harvard Medical School. |

Dr. Elliott S. Fisher has been a leading researcher in studies related to healthcare reform, exploring the differences in spending across U.S. regions and delivery systems and demonstrating that higher spending did not result in better outcomes or quality. He is actively engaged in the development of healthcare delivery and payment reform, including the Accountable Care Organization. He is Professor of Medicine and Community and Family Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School and serves as Director at numerous Dartmouth healthcare institutes. |
